I never felt compelled to join myself, but you are right, those that do good charity work should be admired. Also, they're extremely confident girls, and they really do not care what others think about them. Most of the girls who were debutantes with me were Pi Phis. They take sisterhood seriously and try not to get caught up in drama, which might lead to the sentiment that they're aloof and snobbish. A lot of these are inaccurate. Can you do anything about this? I have never seen them as top tier at any school I have observed. I hear of strife in the sisterhood between the goody two shoes and wild partiers especially with cocaine. Audrey Selig from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on August 24, 2013: My sorority is not on this list, but I am aware of Pi Phi, KD, Chi Omega. Based on the totally appraisal of KKG, It reeks of favoritism and lack of awareness. Each campus is different.
They don't tend to be as social as other sororities and can sometimes seem invisible compared to more visible sororities. Those were the "big four" at my school. they are. Ah well. What about Alpha Sigma Tau? Kappa Delta is not like Kappa Alpha Theta, which was omitted, and also considered top tier. UConn, and Ohio State. My mother and daughter are members of Pi Beta Phi. PNMs, you will see when you go through rush. such websites are not going to give you any information to work with when selecting (or dropping) a sorority. Then it's between Tri-Delt, Theta, and DG. I'll take a go at it. Their academic reputation is good, but they also have a reputation for avoiding tough majors in favor of less-demanding subjects that don't conflict with their social lives. Before you even join, you are told what we stand for and what we believe, which is something ladies should pay attention to before thinking about if a sorority has a house or not. When you live with someone and work so closely with that person and others, the friendships become important. Proud KKG, but all of these sororities are amazing with outstanding members. Being in a sorority is great in general, but being an Alpha Phi sorority member has many added benefits. AOIIs can have the reputation of being "srat" girls - sorority girls who hangout with a particular fraternity on campus. I should have said that they dress "provocatively".
Its obvious that the woman who wrote this didn't like this group because she (or he) mentioned about a hundred times how "Fake" or "Plastic" , etc.
ALAM! Kappa kappa gamma is the richest out of all of them. Well I’m in aphi so you should”. I agree that you have to look at each campus to determine the "worth" of a sorority. These are where you’ll learn the mission and values of each sorority, and you’ll pick up whether what a sorority says is in line with what is really going on.
However, they do not want to be seen as boring, so they try hard to look like party girls. You are clueless. Delta Delta Delta ("Tri-Delts") have a national reputation that was lampooned in a 1980s episode of Saturday Night Live ("Delta Delta Delta, can I helpya helpya helpya?").
I think it is slightly ridiculous that people make pages like this. They are leaders. Looks can come and go, boyfriends change but sisterhood is a lifetime. The biggest sororities have hundreds of chapters across the U.S. and abroad and the oldest have been around since the 1850s. Chi o- "bible beaters"- love The Lord, academics is important, Pi Phis (top)- love their Lilly and pearls with a dash of vodka, while Kappas (top) just love their vodka (and are usually the more 'brunette' house with rich girls), alpha phi - idgaf girls, very popular among the frats, easy DZ..nuff said, tri-delts (tri hards) usually pretty top - your camp counselor kinda gals, zetas (top) the on campus barbies, theta---jocks - so on with that. Alpha Phi: Some girls are hot, some girls are plain, some girls are just weird. I was blessed for 2 years to travel around the country and spend time with sorority girls in 30 states and numerous chapters.
This reputation is by no means uniform, which may be due to the diversity of girls who pledge KD. from what I know of them. :) Theta love.
As for Chi O, yeah they were founded here, but they are the rudest girls. They tend to have a strong sisterhood, and they can really develop strong bonds with particular frats. Well I'd just like to start off by saying, it is never too late to join a sorority! DGs tend to enjoy a level of respect among other sororities and fraternities. Beautiul, rich, smart and even many nice ones). They've been working hard to stray away from the negative stigma, and more people need to give them a chance because they're great girls. Let the poor girls rush for Christ's sake and stop trying to put ideas into their heads about which are the best, the worst, the richest, the sluttiest, and the craziest sororities. Every chapter within a sorority is different. Many large sororities have a national culture that is enforced throughout chapters, but since college campuses vary widely, it's important to visit a chapter during recruitment to gauge whether it's right for you.
Chi-O and Tri Delt are mid. Furthermore, if you're going to generalize like this, then include all panhellenic sororities, not just the largest national groups. But according to this middle aged man, we all just sleep around and party all the time.
Kappa Kappa Gamma seems to be falling in their ranking some due to their wild, "substance' use, and 'easy' dating habits. The KD girls at my school aren't afraid of being a little odd and that's what makes them so approachable. Kappa Kappa Gamma ("Kappas") are known for being rich girls.
If you pledge a sorority and then aren't sure it's right for you, make your decision before the initiation process. Yeah, KKG takes the cake. The NPC helps maintain interfraternity relationships within the chapters of each group. I am at a TX college and top tier is Kappa, Theta and Pi Phi. Time to get with the times and realize that the top houses are no longer in the south and east and beauty and wealth are not considered as much as grades, sports and philanthropy. Both my mom and grandmom were Kappa Deltas, and they wanted me to join so badly.
I find that college is s great place to create lasting friendships, with or without a sorority. Pi Beta Phi girls ("Pi Phis”) are considered by most to be top-tier but also have a reputation as fake and superficial. I strongly disagree with 20 of your descriptions. Kappas are the rich girls some are cute but some are not, they basically let girls in who have financial means. Girls that say otherwise are fooling themselves or just jealous. You have nothing to loose, and you'll never know if you could absolutely love it until you try it!! Pi Phi is cheer or dance types. It is probably true that it depends on the chapter, but most of your impressions are pretty accurate. And don’t let some guy on the internet define what you’re chapter is. Alpha Phi is considered by many to be an upper mid-tier sorority. They're smart in that way. They use their elevated social status to close the court doors. the fact that they think they are so much better than everyone else on here is cringey. They may like to act that way for reputation sake, but I know at least 10 who are on loans, student aid, etc. Look past the make up/money/chapter stereotype.
I can agree it has to be an objective sort, of survey that produces such varied results, but as there many kinds of, people, there must be many kinds of "groups" to belong to. Our daughter is a proud AOII at the University of Alabama. They have heavier girls in their sorority and would completely humiliate their pledges by making them strip down in front of their brother frat to circle 'prob' areas in a sharpie. Request for your school to be featured on GreekRank. But these might very well be the gripes of sororities with an inferiority complex?" I'm so glad that i read all the comments before leaving this page. i’m interested to see how they recruit this fall. Sisterhood is not a competition!! Chi O id top tier there also.
They don’t’ take discuss the positive (writer’s few) compliments about popularity and attractiveness. What's your favorite thing about being an Alpha Phi? I just gotta say, for the people criticizing livelonger, don't. The Pi Phis were from 4 different schools, and they were all the most beautiful group of girls, classy, richer than the 1 Kappa, and fun. Alpha phi is known for being a top sorority nationwide especially at ASU. Any young woman considering joining a sorority- take my advice. This is pretty accurate, but I go to a southern school where Chi O and Kappa are at the very top. Greek life is a fantastic experience where so many memories and bonds are made and stereotypes should not be considered during recruitment. They can be competitive in Greek life events, which may make them appear to be top tier; however, their focus on socializing can affect their academics and philanthropy initiatives. How incredibly short-sighted. It’s interesting because they seem to have almost no current rep at all. So of course I mean - ignore stupid trash like greekrank.com. Agreed that different universities hold sororities in different esteem!! while i agree that they are not the friendliest girls on campus (i have friends in just about every house), they don't deserve as much hate as they're getting. Generally everywhere I see pictures of Pi Phi's (top tier) and Tri Delts as having the most consistently beautiful members of the sororities. Most sororities include philanthropic activities, which can range from working with local non-profits to fundraising or helping maintain the sorority house and grounds. It's different at all schools, but at my school were known as being the funnest sorority to party with and we have the best sisterhood. Lot of truth inthe reputations, except there are a lot of really genuine, nice, friendly Pi Phis who are my friends. Take Pi Phi, for instance... it says they have a reputation for being a fake (and reputation does not equal reality), but check out this quote: "Many consider them to be obsessed with their looks, and have body image issues. Also remember that each sorority is special in their own way and just because you aren’t in the same chapter as your friend or someone else doesn’t mean you can’t be friends or be supportive of their chapter. Most down to earth girls I've ever met. Alpha Phis are outgoing, friendly, passionate, dedicated, and fun, everything you'd want from a sorority.
The national organization stresses “Christian ideals.” Chapters are generally considered to be well-organized. Livelonger is only compiling a list of "commonly-held opinions."
This is absolutely absurd. NO ONE has the right to try to determine which is "better" than the other. Delta Zetas are gorgeous, easy girls while Delta Gammas are typically bigger in size and far more unattractive. Don't judge! Just saying what is the truth now.
It's definitely not for me though.
"Chi O’s,” as members are sometimes called, like to cultivate a “good girl” image. You seem very accurate in your general portrayals of the different sororities. But leave it to a narrow minded individual like yourself to generalize thousands of women based on most likely your own observation of one school. And the KD's are definitely a hodge podge, but I love em! I think you are right on about all of them to a large degree. This is very interesting stuff. I went DG, (slu++y/partners) reputation but undeserved, except for 30-40%. AOII is focused on promoting a strong sisterhood that focuses on academic excellence, leadership, excellence in character, and philanthropic service. I've heard a lot about PKT, Pi Phi ,Kappa, Theta, because they all go after rich girls. If you would like to participate in recruitment again, you can during the next primary recruitment period. One consistent observation is that KDs are obsessed with popularity. Also it’s not a diverse house at all.
